Professional Licensing

South Carolina law requires practitioners of many professional occupations to be licensed by the South Carolina Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation. These professions include physicians, dentists, chiropractors, optometrists, accountants, real estate appraisers, cosmetologists, and 35 other categories of professionals.

Acting through separate professional and occupational licensing boards, LLR regulates and oversees the practice and services provided by these professionals. Occasionally, a complaint may be filed with one of these boards concerning the alleged actions or services provided by a licensed professional. In these instances, the appropriate LLR board investigates the complaint, may hold a hearing to determine whether or not the complaint has merit and, if so, may issue sanctions such as a private or public reprimand or, most seriously, revocation of the license.

As part of his practice, Ben Mustian assists licensed professionals who are licensed by the State of South Carolina in resolving complaints and similar matters before LLR.
